Ingredients
(4 bottles of 250ml)
- 5 organic oranges
- 500ml alcohol for liquors
- 350gr sugar
- 350ml water
Instructions
Wash oranges carefully, wipe them with a cloth and then take the skin without removing the white part of the fruit, with a sharp knife. Put the skin in a jar with hermetic sealing and pour alcohol on it, seal it and let it rest for 10 days shaking it at least once a day.
After 10 days, take the rinds and put in a pot with water and sugar. Take to a boil and let it cook for 15 minutes while stirring. Then strain off the liquid and let it cool.
Pour this syrup into a jar with the alcohol of the rinds and let it rest for 15 days.
After, strain the liquor again, bottle and seal it, and let it rest for 2 months in a cool and dark place.
After 60 days, your orange liquor will be ready to be tasted.
Notes
Orange liquor is made from citrus spirit which is flavoured and digestive, perfect to be served at the end of a meal or along with desserts. You can use it to flavour creams or syrup cakes. To obtain a natural orange spirit it is better to choose organic oranges, untreated, since skin must be used.
Orange liquor is easy to make but it must rest 60 days, so it is better to prepare it in autumn and store in 250 ml bottles, to hand it as a gift for Christmas: whoever receives it, will surely be glad.
